Not So Winter-Break DnD.
I could write up a really poetic origin story. But believe me, I tried. It was all kinds of horrible. And this is the lazy, edited version, so if there are old god names, I apologize in advance. It also may seem like bits have been cut out: they have! There are sekrets that were in the old version that you’re not allowed to know. YET
I JUST CHANGED HORROR TO ELDITCH LOL CAN’T BELIEVE I DIDN’T GET THAT
The beginning of this universe is much like the beginning of our own universe. There were six primordials. However, like how people in real life separate these forces up, they were also simultaneously split up into those, and then even into more specific ones, while simultaneously remaining themselves. However, the more specific they got, the more personified they got. While true primordials don’t have real feelings, the lesser ones kind of do.
Accidentally, one of these had a great feeling of hope and pride after seeing a star that it had helped create. From the first emotion came the first god, named Aaia. She was all alone inside the star, so she decided to create some more gods for the most hospitable planet, which she named Aaia. Her actions took millions of years during this time.
Through shenanigans, she somehow got pregnant, the fathers being the sun, and both of the moons of the planet Aaia. Giving birth, she bore Orren, child of the sun, Kalev, child of the closer moon, and Terill, child of the farther moon. Respectively, they are the gods of justice/law, freedom/love, and secrets/plants. She then had two children by herself (don’t ask how), Pallistar and Cassia. Pallistar is her least favorite, even then, and god of creation, and Cassia is the goddess of nobility and the forests, although she has a greater role as the lady of the Elves. She was her momma’s favorite. They got married.
The gods decided it was time to take the war to the primordials to gain greater power. They trapped the primordials of magic, killed them, and then transformed them into gods. They were Setelli and Melkar. Setelli and Orren fell in love, and had two sets of twins: Karik and Zeark, and Oppo and Elolei. I’m uncertain if I said that Oppo and Zeark and Karik and Elolei were twins before, but if so, I’m retconing it now.
Aaia promised that everyone who contributed would be able to create a race of mortals after the war was over, and Pallistar thought that meant creating things as well. He created the divine equipment the gods use, even to this day. Suddenly, from the largest planet, came a new god. Who might be a primordial. Or might have been a primordial. Nobody was quite ever sure. He was Torek, and he offered to help. He also tried to infringe on Pallistar’s turf, as he also made stuff. He created the weapons of the gods, but he also fought a little. There was also, of the people I haven’t mentioned, Karik, the goddess of revenge and honor, and Elolei, the goddess of healing and purity. The two of them were the best of friends. Eventually, there was a ceasefire, and the Eternal Compact was formed and signed.
Basically, it stated that in addition to the universe there would be two sub dimensions. The Gods would have to live in one, and the primordials in the other. However, they could make proxies to do their work in the world. The Axis of Physics operates on pure physics, although dilution can be seen away from the core, creating elementals, titans, etc. The Axis of Drama, on the other hand, operates on the dramatic and narrative laws. It doesn’t matter if something’s realistic- if it should happen, it happens.
However, the gods would be able to create their living creatures, although they couldn’t live forever. The secret was spirits- which the gods and the primordials both were. To create and assign them, the Eternal Compact manifested itself in a beautiful hermaphrodite, It. The term compactine, however, is commonly used to refer to hermaphrodites in this universe. At first It gave spirits to everything, but Aaia told It not to, so it retreated into its own realm (not Its house, that’s different), where everything could have a spirit. Even fish. That was the axis of BIOLOGY. However, due to the creation of this sub-universe, there was now an intersection between it and Drama. The plane of DRAMA/BIOLOGY was then formed.
Now, everyone made mortals. Aaia created humans, Damien created lyancathopes, Terill unknown(moonfolk?) Dorek dwarves, Setelli dragons, Melkar gnomes, Orren minotaurs, Cassia elves, Zeark goblins, Karik orcs, Elolei chose to make unicorns and snakes, as they were not considered full people, and Oppo gave up his right to create all the other animals of the earth (non-sentient, that is). Pallistar wasn’t able to make one because Aaia said he didn’t really help. Man was he upset!
He decided to take the creations of others and twist them. First he took some humans, and made them his Katal. Aaia was upset. He decided to try it again, and made doppelgangers(out of humans again). Oh god stop doing it Pallistar. Even though you think Aaia wouldn’t notice, she did. But nobody was really all that upset with him, except for Aaia. That was until he took some of Cassia’s beloved elves and made them into drow.
Now Cassia was very picky with her elves. She gave them the gift of immortality, and Aaia made one exception with them, calling them not truly living creatures but partially divine. The primordials didn’t really care, as they were the only exception. The elves were beautiful, perfect, and lived forever on their island, Elliesia. But Pallistar spoke to some of the elves, promising them they could be even more beautiful if they only trusted him. And so he made them drow. Some of the elves were horrified by the transformation, but others were rather pleased with it. Although they could no longer live in their sunny Elliesia, they decided to move to the other continents and befriend other creatures. But Cassia struck. She pleaded to Aaia, calling the new elves a mockery, demanding Pallistar be punished. Aaia did punish him. She striped from him his godly status and cursing so he could never create anything, ever again. She then called these new elves abominations, sentencing them down to the pits of the earth forever, and commanding her servants to destroy them whenever they found them.
He retalliated by creating the TRUE abominations. The primordials and the gods made a sudden pact to banish them from reality. The seat of power was rested in Alexil, Aaia’s most beloved angel. Commanded to both destroy Pallistar and split the universe, he succeed on spiting it. Using the universe’s sharpest blade, he split the universe in half again, creating the axis of the ELDRITCH to oppose the axis of BIOLOGY. Pallistar, the Abominations, Alexil and his flock were stuck there- forever.
The abominations further receded to ELDRITCH/PHYSICS, while Pallistar and Alexil stayed in ELDRITCH/DRAMA. But before that blade sliced the universe, It visited, giving these abominations spirits. It was the last thing It could do. Things in this half of the world couldn’t rely on It and it’s biology. They had to get spirits some other way. Alexil and his flock multiplied as much as they could, and became devils. They had to get souls from mortals to reproduce, however. Pallistar was acompanied by the drow, who still return to the natural world to reproduce, as they are not locked in here like Pallistar and Alexil.
Eventually, things calmed for a while. An age passed. Then, for unknown reasons, Karik broke off from the rest of the gods, swearing revenge on Cassia and Torek. Oh wait, now you do know (EXCEPT FOR JACK AND AL, BECAUSE YOU WERE SLEEPING). With the help of Cassia, Torek entered Karik’s chambers and forced himself upon her. She became pregnant with Terrimev, and when she pleaded to Aaia for justice, Aaia told her that she would be forced to marry him, which is what he really wanted. She left in a rage, swearing reven- Just said that. Then, the events that take place in part 2 of The Isle of the Elves occurred. And that’s pretty much it.
